In Memory of the Late Mr. and Mrs. Comfort is a fable photographed and created for The New Yorker by Richard Avedon in collaboration with Doon Arbus and featuring model Nadja Auermann.

Richard Avedon was born in 1923, and died, aged 81, in 2004. Following his death the New York Times published an article with the introduction: “his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America’s image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century.” Some consider him THE American photographer.

In Memory of the Late Mr. and Mrs. Comfort was his last photoshoot, published in November 6, 1995, p. 130. The photographs are… hypnotising. Enjoy.

I grabbed the photographs from theparsons.com. They are also available on touchpuppet.com.
